North East Behavioural Supports Ontario (NE BSO)
Supported by the North East Local Health Integration Network (NE LHIN) and coordinated by North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC), NE BSO provides enhanced services for older adults with, or at risk for personal expressions/responsive behaviours associated with dementia, mental health, substance use, and/or other neurological conditions. This includes adults with age related neurocognitive conditions, such as an early onset dementia. Specialized supports and education is also available for family and care partners.
NE BSO’s interagency team will work with the person and their care partners to:
- Provide comprehensive behavioural assessments and develop a personalized care plan with strategies to minimize behavioural expressions to improve quality of life.
- Enhance support and education for patients, family care partners and professional care partners.
- Provide transitional support from one environment to another (e.g. long-term care, hospital, community).
- Connect patients to consulting speciality care providers.
- Anyone can refer an individual for BSO services providing that consent is given. Patients may refer themselves or be referred by a loved one or health care professional.
